TCU baseball hosts Texas Tech this weekend in Fort Worth as Sawyer Strosnider’s power surge and Jesse Rusinek’s hot bat headline a pivotal Big 12 series.

TCU baseball welcomes Texas Tech to Fort Worth this weekend for a Big 12 series that suddenly feels important for both teams.

Texas Tech enters the matchup at 16-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while TCU sits at 14-10 and 2-4 in the league.

For the Horned Frogs, this is a chance to steady the season at home. For the Red Raiders, it’s an opportunity to prove their strong start in Big 12 play is real.

The spotlight starts with Sawyer Strosnider. The TCU sophomore outfielder is swinging one of the hottest bats in the conference, piling up five home runs and 15 RBIs over his last five games.

He’s already established himself as the engine of the Horned Frogs’ offense, leading the club in batting average (.313), home runs (9), RBIs (33), runs scored (31), walks (24), and OPS (1.211).

Texas Tech, though, arrives with its own breakout star.

Freshman Jesse Rusinek has been electric at the plate, leading the Big 12 with a .441 batting average and a .542 on-base percentage.

He’s added one home run, 17 RBIs, three triples, and eight stolen bases, giving the Red Raiders a consistent table-setter with game-changing speed.

That only adds more intrigue, considering Rusinek and Strosnider once patrolled the same high school outfield at Brock.

This series also carries some recent history. Texas Tech has struggled in Fort Worth, losing eight of its last 11 games at Lupton Stadium dating back to 2016.

TCU has also taken two of three in each of the last two regular-season meetings between the programs.

Still, the Horned Frogs haven’t exactly cruised into this weekend. Injuries have been part of the problem, and TCU needs a cleaner showing on the mound after a shaky opening stretch in conference play.

With power, familiarity, and Big 12 positioning all in play, this TCU-Texas Tech series has the feel of one that could shape the next few weeks for both clubs.
