No. 19 TCU closes nonconference play Sunday night against Texas, looking to build on ranked wins over Georgia and Wisconsin before Big 12 action.

FORT WORTH - No. 19 TCU women’s soccer gets one final nonconference test Sunday night, and it comes against a familiar rival.

The Horned Frogs host Texas at 7 p.m. CT at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium with a chance to carry real momentum into Big 12 play.

TCU enters the matchup 3-1-1 after a dominant 3-0 road win over Texas A&M, while Texas arrives in Fort Worth at 4-1-1.

TCU has already built one of the stronger early-season resumes in the country.

The Frogs have beaten No. 22 Wisconsin and No. 17 Georgia, then added the shutout of Texas A&M on Thursday. That win in College Station matched TCU’s largest margin of victory over the Aggies since 1992.

Grace Vest helped set the tone against A&M, scoring in her first start of the season and only the second start of her career.

Bella Diorio and Grace Coppinger also found the net as the Horned Frogs delivered their most complete performance of the young season.

Through five matches, TCU has scored 11 goals with seven different players finding the net. That kind of balance matters for a roster featuring 15 newcomers.

The Texas series has been competitive.

TCU owns a 13-10-5 all-time advantage over the Longhorns and is 3-3-1 in the last seven meetings. The Frogs won last year’s matchup in Austin, 3-2, when Morgan Brown scored on a header in the 85th minute.

Texas has started well this season, too. The Longhorns are coming off a 6-0 win over Incarnate Word and have allowed only four goals through six matches.

For TCU, Sunday is also the final opportunity to sharpen things before conference play begins.

The Horned Frogs were picked to win the Big 12 in the preseason coaches poll, receiving 13 first-place votes after capturing the league’s regular-season title in both 2024 and 2025.

Bella Diorio, Kamdyn Fuller, Emma Yolinsky and Olivia Geller were all named Preseason All-Big 12 selections, adding to the expectations surrounding a program that reached the Women’s College Cup last season.

After Texas, TCU gets an 11-day break before opening Big 12 play Sept. 17 at Oklahoma State.

A rivalry win Sunday would be a strong way to enter that stretch.
