TCU guard Jadyn Wooten lands on the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list after a standout season at Oklahoma State, extending the Horned Frogs' point guard tradition.
FORT WORTH - TCU women's basketball has developed a reputation for producing elite point guards under head coach Mark Campbell, and the next name on that list might already be in Fort Worth.
Junior guard Jadyn Wooten has been selected to the 2026-27 Nancy Lieberman Award preseason watch list, placing her among 20 candidates for the honor presented annually to the nation's top point guard.
It's the third consecutive season a TCU player has earned consideration for the award, following WNBA standouts Hailey Van Lith in 2025 and Olivia Miles in 2026.
Not bad company for a newcomer.
Wooten, a 5-TCU Fires A.J. Ricker As Offensive Failures Threaten To Sink Its Season6 transfer from Oklahoma State, arrives after establishing herself as one of the Big 12's most efficient playmakers.
During the 2025-26 season, the Overland Park, Kansas, native averaged 12.8 points, 5.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field.
But her ability to take care of the basketball might be even more impressive.
Wooten led the Big 12 and ranked 12th nationally with a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. She finished with 177 assists, reaching at least seven in 13 games and leading Oklahoma State in assists in 21 of its 34 contests.
And she accomplished all that while coming off the bench.
Wooten scored in double figures 25 times, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention recognition after establishing herself as one of the conference's most productive reserves.
Now she'll have an opportunity to take on a larger role in Campbell's system.
TCU has enjoyed remarkable success with experienced point guards, and Wooten brings the kind of court vision, shooting efficiency and decision-making that should translate well to the Horned Frogs' offense.
She also joins some impressive company in program history.
Wooten becomes the fifth TCU player recognized by the Lieberman Award, joining Van Lith, Miles, Helena Sverisdottir and Adrianne Ross.
Only one other Big 12 player, Oklahoma State's Liv McGill, earned a place on this season's preseason watch list.
The honor doesn't guarantee Wooten a starting role or a spot among the award's finalists, but it establishes expectations before she plays her first official game in a TCU uniform.
Fans can participate in voting beginning October 30 at HoophallAwards.com. The field will narrow to 10 candidates in January and five finalists in February.
Wooten and the Horned Frogs open the 2026-27 season Nov. 3 against Oral Roberts at 6:30 p.m. in Fort Worth.
For Campbell, the challenge is replacing another accomplished floor leader.
For Wooten, it's an opportunity to prove the Horned Frogs haven't lost their touch at point guard.
