The Dallas Cowboys have often make an effort to speak with NFL Draft prospects who have ties to the DFW Metroplex and may fit roster needs during the annual NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
This year, as a wide net is cast on Dallas' new-look defense led by recently-hired coordinator Christian Parker, that trend continued on the first day of the Combine with TCU linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr receiving a visit from the Cowboys.
Dallas owns two first-round picks in this year's draft, and many expect them both (No. 12 and 20) to be devoted to Parker's defense, which ranked as one of the NFL's worst in 2025. Elsewhere in the draft, the defense remains a top priority.
Elarms-Orr, aside from the connection to the area, plays a key position Dallas is expected to target at some point this offseason - either in the draft and/or in free agency.
With the Horned Frogs last season, Elarms-Orr recorded 130 total tackles and 4.0 sacks - both massive career-highs.
Last season was the Hayward, California native's second in Fort Worth. He spent the 2023 season with the Cal Golden Bears. This breakout season saw him lead the team in tackles and add 11 tackles for loss en route to earning First Team All-Big 12 honors.
His final chapter with TCU was perhaps one of his most impressive. It helped him cap a collegiate career by showcasing the skills that will translate to the professional game.
Elarms-Orr was the Defensive MVP in the Horned Frogs' Alamo Bowl win over USC in San Antonio. He had a team-high 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
The former Horned Frog explained what he believes best sets him up for success in the NFL when he met with media at the Combine.
"I'm smart, I'm fast, I'm physical, athletic, sideline to sideline," Elarms-Orr said. "I'm an all-around player ... I feel like I can do everything, just from a blitzing, coverage, run game, leadership standpoint. I feel like I can do it all."
The nearby Dallas Cowboys are taking notice.
