No. 14 TCU Horned Frogs women's basketball won’t have time for a Super Bowl nap on Sunday. Instead, the Horned Frogs head to Boulder for a pivotal Big 12 matchup against the Colorado Buffaloes in a game that could shape the conference title picture over the final month of the season.
TCU enters the afternoon riding momentum and sitting at 21-3 overall with a 9-2 mark in Big 12 play.
A win keeps the Frogs on track for a massive showdown with No. 15 Baylor later this week in Waco, a game that would effectively be a battle for first place.
With four of their next five games coming against teams in the top half of the league standings, there’s no easing into February for this group.
Under head coach Mark Campbell, TCU has transformed into one of the most consistent winners in the country.
Since the start of the 202-25 season, the Horned Frogs rank among the nation’s elite in both total wins and winning percentage. They’re also closing in on another milestone, needing just four more victories to secure back-to-back 25-win seasons for the first time in program history.
Offensively, Olivia Miles and Marta Suarez form the highest-scoring duo in the Big 12, combining for nearly 35 points per game. Add Donovyn Hunter to the mix, and TCU boasts one of the top-scoring trios in the nation at over 47 points per night.
When those three hit the 50-point mark collectively, the Frogs are nearly unbeatable.
Defensively, the Horned Frogs lead the nation in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 32.8 percent shooting. They’re also allowing barely 54 points per game, making them one of only a handful of teams that can score 80 a night while keeping opponents well below 60.
The Buffaloes have been competitive in league play and will be eager to defend their home floor, especially with TCU still seeking its first road win in Boulder.
Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT, and for the Horned Frogs, it’s another step in a championship chase that’s only getting louder.
