TCU Women’s Basketball Heads To Lubbock For Massive Big 12 Showdown vs Texas Tech cover image

Elite defense meets potent offense as ranked TCU and Texas Tech clash for Big 12 supremacy in a pivotal showdown.

TCU women’s basketball hits the road Sunday with momentum, confidence, and Big 12 title implications in tow as the No. 12 Horned Frogs travel to Lubbock to face No. 21 Texas Tech inside United Supermarkets Arena.

With both teams hovering around the top of the conference standings, this matchup feels more like March than early February.

The Horned Frogs enter at 20-2 overall and 8-1 in Big 12 play, continuing to build one of the most complete resumes in the country.

TCU’s calling card has been defense, as the Frogs rank among the nation’s best, allowing only 54.3 points per game while holding opponents to an icy 32.9 percent shooting from the field. That defensive pressure has been the backbone of a team that rarely beats itself.

At the center of it all is Olivia Miles, who continues to put together an All-American caliber season.

The dynamic guard is averaging 19.2 points, seven rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, while also creating havoc defensively with 1.8 steals per contest.

She’s coming off a 20-point performance in a tight 79-77 win over Kansas, once again proving she’s at her best when the stakes are highest. Marta Suarez has quietly been a steady scoring presence as well, averaging 11.4 points over TCU’s last 10 games.

Texas Tech, meanwhile, has turned its home floor into a problem for the rest of the nation. The Lady Raiders are 11-2 in Lubbock and boast one of the most efficient offenses in the Big 12, scoring 73.8 points per game and shooting 45.1 percent from the field.

That efficiency will be tested Sunday against TCU’s defense, creating one of the most intriguing clashes of styles in the conference.

Bailey Maupin leads the Lady Raiders with 15.3 points per game and adds defensive bite with 1.7 steals, while Snudda Collins has been on a scoring surge, averaging 16.2 points over the last 10 games.

Texas Tech has outscored opponents by nearly 18 points per game this season, showing it can overwhelm teams when shots are falling.

This is the first meeting between these programs in conference play this season, and it carries significant Big 12 implications.

TCU has been battle-tested, Texas Tech has been dominant at home, and something has to give. Sunday’s showdown should deliver intensity, execution, and a postseason feel ... exactly what fans expect when two ranked Big 12 contenders collide.
