2026 Early Signing Day wraps with the Vols' top-five class cover image

Tennessee secures a top-five recruiting class, featuring elite quarterback, receivers, and linemen, poised to reshape the program.

Early signing day has come and gone, and Tennessee coach Josh Heupel has logged another solid recruiting class.

Where things currently stand, it is ranked as Heupel’s highest class since joining the Vols in 2021, standing as the fifth best in the nation with three five-star players.

The Vols have signed all but one commit, athlete Salesi Moa out of Utah. He still could sign, though Utah and Michigan have made a serious pitch for him.

QB Faizon Brandon

Brandon, ranked as the nation’s second-best quarterback prospect, officially signs with the Vols after being committed to the team since late 2024.

Despite being injured for most of his senior season, Brandon has shown his dual-threat abilities while leading his team through another deep playoff run that continues this Friday.

WR Tristen Keys

The second five-star of the class, Keys, was flipped this year after a long recruiting battle between LSU and Tennessee.

Keys also dealt with an injury in his senior season, but was still a prized prospect amongst the top SEC schools, before he landed with Heupel and company at Tennessee, joining a solid receiving class.

OT Gabriel Osenda

Elite teams are built through the trenches, and it seems the Vols’ coaching staff is focusing on just that with the addition of Osenda with this class.

Standing at 6’7, 330 lbs, Osenda has lived up to the frame and the five-star rating. He also serves as the Vols' highest-ranked in-state commit from the class.

LB TJ White

Ranked 41st in the nation according to 247sports, White has been growing as an all-around defender, while showing his capability of getting after the quarterback on the edge.

While the size doesn’t jump off the page, his speed trumps all the concerns, giving him all the potential to be a difference-maker at the Power Four level.

ATH Joel Wyatt

The second receiver to show on the list, Heuepel and his staff had a clear desire to amp up the receiving room after a big turnover the last offseason. A homestate prospect, Wyatt has been playing his senior season at Oakland High School in Tennessee.

Wyatt is a bit of a Swiss Army knife for his school, but his playmaking ability will come in handy when he makes his way to the Vols. Whether it ends up being secondary or wideout, Wyatt has the chance to carve out quite a role on the team.

LB Brayden Rouse

Touted as a player with the build to transform into a possible pro-threat down the line, Rouse joins the Vols with a high-energy defense that has continued to take jumps in his high school career in Georgia.

Ranked 81st nationally and tenth in the state of Georgia, Rouse serves as a critical piece to the future defensive puzzle.

DL Carter Gooden

Despite the others on this list, Gooden was one of two commits to flip his commitment to the University of Tennessee on Tuesday. Previously committed to UCLA, Gooden flipped to Tennessee, becoming the seventh highest-ranked commit in the class.

Gooden, ranked 90th in the country, is a defensive lineman who is capable of lining up anywhere on the line.

OT Kamari Blair

Hailing from Clarksville, Tenn., Blair is the fifth-highest-ranked prospect in the state. He serves as the second-highest-ranked offensive line commit.

A multi-sport athlete, Blair also competed in track and field in high school. He spent most of his time on the offensive line at the tackle position.

WR Legend Bey

The second commit to flip to Tennessee on the day, wideout Bey was originally committed to Ohio State before inking his signing papers with Tennessee.

Bey committed to Ohio State after decommitting from Tennessee in early November, but a late push from Kelsey Pope landed the Vols a big get in the late stages of the cycle.

EDGE Zack Groves

Yet another multi-sport track and field athlete, Groves is a quick edge-defender who has been a force for his high school in all four of his seasons.

Groves has been committed to Tennessee since May 21, 2025. In his first three high school seasons, he tallied 14 total sacks.

DL Dereon Albert

A wide and powerful defensive tackle that will make you pay if he catches you on the field, Albert fills in at 6-2, 305 pounds.

While development will be needed to fill his frame, he has the potential to cause issues on any collegiate defensive front with enough reps and practice.

CB Zay Anderson

A commit out of Greenville, Tenn., Anderson serves as the Vols' highest-ranked defensive back commit.

He has the speed to add value on special teams early in his career, but also possesses the ball-tracking skills to be an impact defensive starter with enough development.

WR Tyreek King

The final four-star in the class to sign, according to 247sports, King also hails from in-state, as he attends Knoxville Catholic.

While not the biggest receiver on the field, King uses his speed and elusiveness to make his presence visible, standing at just 5’10 and 168 pounds.
