There remain just two more games on the schedule before games become a little more important.
Ranked matchups, rivalries, and battles against mid-majors fill up the slate this week in the SEC in what should be yet another fun week of football.
Throw the records out the window for this game; those aren’t relevant. The only relevant number needed in this game is this: The Vols haven’t won a game in "The Swamp" against the Gators since 2003.
With how Tennessee has been playing this season, it’s not a guarantee that it can handle business. The Gators, despite only three wins on the record, have found ways to win at home this season against teams like Texas.
As mentioned, it's been 22 years since the Vols have left the swamp victorious, and with all the offensive miscues and defensive inconsistencies, it’s hard to see Tennessee confidently handle business.
TiE Miles Kitsleman will be out for the game after injuring his leg last weekend against New Mexico State. RB Peyton Lewis and OL Wendell Moe Jr. are both questionable. Florida 30, Tennessee 27
The Aggies are riding one of the school’s highest highs since the 2012 season.
Even after South Carolina played things too close for comfort last week, the Aggies remained perfect with a 31-30 win while mounting the largest comeback in Aggies’ school history.
Now the Aggies get a break from conference action, welcoming Samford into town. Its only win this season was against VMI.
Expect fireworks from the Aggies' offense before the backups take over. Texas A&M 51, Samford 10
The week’s only ranked conference matchup is one riddled with the injury bug for Mizzou.
Since losing their quarterback, Beau Pribul, against Vanderbilt, the Tigers have had to weather the storm. Running back Ahmad Hardy has had an electric season with 1,346 rushing yards through the team's ten games played.
Oklahoma, on the other hand, has been looking as sharp as ever, with two massive road wins against Tennessee and now Alabama. Without Pribula, it’ll be tough for the Tigers to combat the momentum of the Sooners. Oklahoma 33, Mizzou 21
The Bulldogs continue to ride past the competition after dropping their first and only loss of the season to this point at home against Alabama.
Last weekend, the Bulldogs defeated another ranked team in Texas, showcasing their tough-as-nails defense, which held Arch Manning and company to 10 points.
It’s a game to sit back and let the young guys get some reps. Charlotte hasn’t won a game since Sept. 13 against Mommouth. Georgia 55, Charlotte 7
One of the trickiest teams in the conference to get a read on, Alabama, has been up and down all season long. It finds itself on the downswing right now after losing at home to Oklahoma just a week ago.
Quarterback Ty Simpson threw just his second interception of the season during the loss to the Sooners, so the game against Easterin Illinois serves as a perfect get-right point for not only the quarterback, but the entire team.
With two losses, Alabama still sits firmly in the playoff race, but will need to convincingly win out now if the Crimson Tide wants to make an impression on Selection Day. Alabama 52, Eastern Illinois 6
It’s been more than forgetful season for Auburn; last week saw the theme continue as the Tigers dropped an overtime loss to Vanderbilt on the road.
Quarterback Ashton Daniels has done a fine job manning the offense since replacing Jaxon Arnold. Mercer, on the other hand, has done a nice job handling business this season, and while the competition hasn't been on par with Auburn’s, it's not a team you can take lightly.
In the overtime loss, Daniels finished with 353 yards and two touchdowns, along with no interceptions -- an encouraging step. Despite this, Auburn plans on starting true-freshman Deuce Knight at quarterback on Saturday. Auburn 41, Mercer 16
It’s Senior Day for Vanderbilt, which means it’s also Senior Day for quarterback Diego Pavia.
Pavia has led the Commodores to one of their most successful seasons in recent memory, with just two losses to Alabama and Texas. With Kentucky coming to town, a team that has maybe found its footing after a terrible home loss to Tennessee, Vanderbilt will need to hunker down and handle business.
At the end of the day, Pavia will handle his business. He leads the Commodores in both passing and rushing categories and will continue to do more of the same Saturday. Vanderbilt 38, Kentucky 20
It had taken longer than hoped for, but the Longhorns were beginning to find their identity before entering Georgia.
Serving as the Longhorns second conference loss, it pushed them out of contention for an SEC Championship berth. Arkansas, on the other hand, still searches for its first conference win of the year.
The Razorbacks have lost four of their last five games in the conference by a single possession. While they have been knocking on the door, it seems to be another tough draw for the Razorbacks. Texas 37, Arkansas 28
The Gamecocks were just a few more seconds and a couple more plays away from stealing away a big upset from Texas A&M on the road. Instead, they were handed their fifth straight loss, their seventh in the last eight contests.
It’s been a less than ideal season, especially after being ranked No. 11 on Week 3 to being unranked the week after.
With six wins, Coastal isn’t a team to take lightly. While its other game against a power five team in Virginia resulted in a big Virginia win, it’d be wrong to overlook. Even with the challenge, the Gamecocks earn a solid win and end the streak. South Carolina 34, Coastal Carolina 20
The Tigers hit bowl-eligibility last weekend after their win against Arkansas that came in the final seconds. Quarterback Michael Van Buren led the charge over Garrett Nussmeier.
Now the schedule turns over to a Western Kentucky team that stands atop the Conference USA.
Even with the offensive struggles, the Tigers should handle business against the Hilltoppers on Saturday. LSU 42, Western Kentucky 23
