Aggies snag South Carolina guard Trovon Baugh, bolstering the offensive line with SEC experience and surprise portal power.

Texas A&M continues to quietly stack trench help in the transfer portal, and Monday's latest addition might be the most unexpected yet.

The Aggies landed South Carolina guard Trovon Baugh, giving head coach Mike Elko his second offensive line transfer of the cycle and his seventh portal commitment overall - a move that reinforces just how aggressively A&M is rebuilding its foundation up front.

After already securing LSU guard Coen Echols, Texas A&M doubled down by adding Baugh, a multi-game starter in the SEC who logged meaningful snaps against top-tier competition.

With starting left tackle Trey Zuhn, right guard Ar'maj Reed-Adams, and right tackle Dametreous Crownover all heading to the NFL Draft - and left guard Chase Bisontis still weighing his future - the Aggies badly needed experience before spring football arrived. Elko didn't wait around.

Baugh started 11 of 12 games at right guard last season for the South Carolina Gamecocks, totaling 611 snaps in one of the league's most physical environments. His performance profile shows a player who held his own more often than not, even if refinement is still required.

According to Pro Football Focus, Baugh posted multiple 80-plus pass protection grades throughout the season and consistently graded at or above average as a run blocker.

At 6-3 and 335 pounds, Baugh brings legitimate SEC size and raw power, the kind of frame that offensive line coaches love to mold. While his technique and consistency still need polish, the physical tools are obvious, and the upside is real.

He immediately enters the competition at right guard alongside Echols and rising sophomore Blake Ivy, setting up what should be one of the more competitive position battles of spring camp.

This addition also reflects a broader philosophy shift under Elko.

Texas A&M isn't chasing splashy headlines at the expense of roster balance. Instead, the Aggies are methodically addressing pressure points - and the offensive line was near the top of that list after last season’s attrition.

Baugh may not have been a widely rumored target, but those are often the portal wins that matter most.

He adds depth, experience, and competition to a unit that desperately needed all three. With two veteran guards now in the fold, Texas A&M has stabilized the interior just in time to reset its offense for 2026.
