No. 3 A&M heads back to Austin 11-0, rocking classic maroon-and-white while hunting Texas, the SEC title game and a spotless CFP resume.
No. 3 Texas A&M (11-0, 7-0 SEC) is a little more than 24 hours away from its biggest road trip in decades, and now we know what the Aggies will be wearing when they walk into enemy territory.
For the first Friday night edition of the Lone Star Showdown at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, A&M is rolling with a clean, no-nonsense look: maroon helmets, white jerseys and maroon pants.
It's the Aggies' first visit to Austin since the 2010 win over the Longhorns, and the uniform combo is a deliberate nod to business, not theatrics.
No alternates. No distractions. Just classic maroon-and-white crashing into a burnt orange stadium with everything on the line.
Both teams have plenty to play for.
A win sends A&M to the SEC Championship Game and keeps its College Football Playoff path crystal clear.
Texas, sitting at 8-3 (5-2 SEC), is chasing a 9-3 finish and hoping it's enough to sneak into the 12-team CFP field. That desperation, paired with a bitter rivalry and a primetime stage, is a recipe for chaos.
Arch Manning is doing his best to make sure of it.
The Texas quarterback is coming off a monster outing, accounting for six total touchdowns in a 52–37 shootout win over Arkansas. If he stays in rhythm, this game has every chance to come down to the final possession.
But the Aggies didn't stumble into 11-0. Marcel Reed has been playing at a Heisman level, stacking 31 total touchdowns while guiding one of the most efficient offenses in the country.
Defensively, A&M is a nightmare up front, ranking second nationally in sacks with 39. Senior edge Cashius Howell has been living in opposing backfields with 11.5 sacks and 30-plus pressures, setting the tone for a unit that specializes in ruining quarterbacks’ nights.
With all that at stake, even the uniform reveal hits different this week.
Texas A&M dropped its road look with an official video starring star wide receiver KC Concepcion, a reminder that the Aggies aren't just bringing pass rush and pedigree to Austin, they're bringing explosive firepower on the perimeter, too.
Rivalry games rarely follow the script, but A&M's message with this combo is clear ... show up in the classics, play your brand of football, and walk out of Austin 12-0 with the whole country watching.
