Just two years ago, Texas A&M's offense felt like it was stuck in neutral. Injuries, shaky quarterback play, and conservative play-calling created a unit that Aggie fans had grown all too used to that was far removed from the fireworks of the Johnny Manziel era in 2012.
Enter Collin Klein, and everything changed.
Since arriving as offensive coordinator, Klein has overseen a full-scale renovation of Texas A&M's identity with Marcel Reed at the controls. What was once a plodding, predictable attack has become one of the most explosive offenses in the SEC, blending tempo, creativity, and quarterback-friendly structure.
Reed is on pace to become the first Aggie quarterback to surpass 3,000 passing yards since Kellen Mond in 2020, a benchmark that once felt out of reach in College Station.
Under Klein's guidance, Reed has grown into a true dual-threat weapon, efficient as a passer while adding over 300 rushing yards on scrambles and designed runs that keep drives alive and defenses off-balance.
The transformation hasn't been limited to the quarterback spot.
The Texas A&M wide receiver room has finally started to look like a modern SEC arsenal. Portal additions Mario Craver and KC Concepcion have given Reed legitimate game-breakers on the perimeter, helping the Aggies rank near the top of the SEC in 20-yard plays and passing touchdowns.
Explosive plays, once rare, are now a staple of the Aggies' weekly script.
All of that has turned Klein from a "nice hire" into one of the hottest coordinators in college football ... so much so that his success has now created the next challenge.
In 2026, he'll head back to his alma mater as Kansas State's head coach, a move that speaks volumes about what he accomplished in such a short window at A&M.
For Klein and his family, College Station exceeded every expectation.
"This place is special; it blew every expectation we had out of the water," Klein said. "The people are incredible, the value system is incredible, the people coach Elko brought in are friends and family for life."
It all makes his looming departure bittersweet.
Texas A&M is finally fielding the kind of explosive, balanced offense fans have been craving for more than a decade - and the architect is on his way to his next chapter.
But not yet.
Before Klein and the Aggies part ways, there's still a national championship chase to finish. And if A&M does break through, history will remember that it started when Collin Klein walked in and flipped the switch on the Aggies' offense.
