Texas A&M football is monitoring spring injuries at wide receiver while Mario Craver’s SEC stock rises and the Aggies push for elite 2026 WR Eric McFarland.
Texas A&M football has no shortage of spring storylines, but the biggest one right now may be the health of the Aggies’ wide receiver room.
With Texas A&M spring practice rolling on, the status of Terry Bussey and Ashton Bethel-Roman has become a key issue for an offense trying to build rhythm heading into 2026.
There still hasn’t been much public clarity on either situation, which leaves plenty of room for concern but also some optimism.
In spring ball, silence can sometimes mean the issue isn’t expected to linger into the fall. That’s what Texas A&M will be hoping for, because the Aggies have top-end talent at receiver, but proven depth remains a work in progress.
That’s where Mario Craver becomes even more important.
After a breakout 2025 season in which he posted 917 receiving yards and four touchdowns while averaging more than 15 yards per catch, Craver enters the new year as one of the most dangerous playmakers in the SEC.
His biggest moment came early, when he torched Notre Dame for 207 receiving yards and a touchdown, flashing the kind of game-breaking ability that changes defensive game plans.
If Craver continues that trajectory, Texas A&M’s passing game could take another jump, especially with Marcel Reed back at quarterback and Isaiah Horton adding size and production to the room.
Horton’s presence could also make life easier for Craver by forcing defenses to spread their attention.
Meanwhile, the Aggies appear to be gaining real traction with 2026 IMG Academy wide receiver Eric McFarland, one of the fastest-rising offensive prospects in the class.
Landing a player like McFarland would be another major recruiting win for Mike Elko and Holmon Wiggins, and it would reinforce the idea that Texas A&M is building one of the SEC’s most explosive future receiver groups.
For now, though, health is the headline. If the Aggies get good news there, the upside gets even more intriguing.
