Texas A&M baseball enters the Vanderbilt series red hot at 23-5, but Wesley Jordan’s injury status remains uncertain as the Aggies lean on rising depth.
Texas A&M baseball heads into its weekend series with Vanderbilt playing some of its best ball of the season, and the timing couldn’t be better.
The Aggies are 23-5 after routing Sam Houston 16-2 on Tuesday, staying perfect in midweek action and continuing an offensive surge that has turned heads across the SEC.
Texas A&M has piled up 55 runs over its last four games, a stretch that has helped build momentum heading into another big conference test at Blue Bell Park.
A major reason for that explosion has been Gavin Grahovac.
The junior first baseman has caught fire at the plate, launching five home runs since hurting his hand last Friday. Any concern about whether the injury might slow him down has disappeared in a hurry.
Texas A&M has also benefited from the kind of roster depth that keeps good teams dangerous when injuries hit.
That matters right now because outfielder Wesley Jordan remains a question mark going into the Vanderbilt series. After returning for the start of SEC play, Jordan has now missed four straight games and is listed as questionable for Thursday’s opener.
He had previously been viewed as likely to play during the Missouri series, but the Aggies chose to be cautious.
That decision looks easier to make with the way Texas A&M’s replacements have performed.
Freshman Jorian Wilson has taken advantage of the extra at-bats and flashed star potential, hitting two home runs while Jordan has been sidelined.
Meanwhile, Blake Binderup has continued to be one of the most reliable bats in the lineup, combining power production with steady plate appearances that have helped stabilize the offense.
At this point, Texas A&M doesn’t have to rush Jordan back.
With Grahovac swinging a hot bat and Wilson and Binderup producing, the Aggies have options as they prepare for Vanderbilt.
First pitch is set for Thursday at 6 p.m. CT, with the game streaming on SEC Network+.
