The Miami breakout star vaults into the NFL’s highest-paid tier, securing a $68 million extension that joins him with elite company after a dominant 1,800-yard sophomore campaign.
Former Texas A&M star De’Von Achane has officially turned his breakout NFL success into a massive payday.
The Miami Dolphins rewarded the former Aggies running back with a reported four-year extension worth up to $68 million, cementing him as one of the highest-paid players at his position in the entire league.
Reports say the deal includes $32 million guaranteed and places Achane among the NFL’s top three highest-paid running backs in annual salary.
And the only two guys that are above him are Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley, so it is safe to say that he is in pretty good company.

For Texas A&M fans, the contract is another reminder of just how electric Achane was in College Station before becoming one of the NFL’s most explosive offensive weapons.
Achane arrived at Texas A&M as one of the fastest players in the country and immediately showed game-changing ability. Even as a freshman, he flashed elite speed and versatility, but his national breakout came during the Aggies’ Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina when he rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns to earn MVP honors.
Over the next two seasons, Achane evolved into the centerpiece of the Aggies’ offense. During the 2021 season, he became one of the SEC’s most dangerous all-purpose players and delivered one of the signature moments of the Jimbo Fisher era with a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown against Alabama.
His final season in Aggieland proved he could handle a full workload as a lead back. Achane rushed for over 1,100 yards in 2022 despite defenses focusing heavily on stopping him every week.
That production translated quickly to the NFL.
After being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Achane immediately became one of the league’s biggest home-run threats. Last season, he rushed for 1,350 yards while averaging 5.7 yards per carry and added another 488 receiving yards with 12 total touchdowns.
Miami clearly believes Achane is a foundational piece moving forward, especially after major roster changes this offseason. The new extension keeps him under contract through the 2030 season and confirms what Texas A&M fans already knew years ago — Achane’s elite speed and playmaking ability were always built for the biggest stage.
