Denver finally jumps into the 2026 NFL Draft at No. 66, taking Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim in the third round.
The Denver Broncos had to wait longer than most teams to make their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but when they finally got on the board, they turned to Texas A&M.
With the No. 66 overall selection, Denver drafted Aggies defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim, adding an athletic interior defender who could work his way into the Broncos’ defensive line rotation as a rookie.
The pick came early in the third round after a winding path.
Denver previously sent its first-round pick to the Miami Dolphins in the Jaylen Waddle trade, then moved down during the second round.
The selection the Broncos eventually used had already traveled from the Tennessee Titans to the Buffalo Bills before landing with Denver.
For Texas A&M fans, Onyedim’s selection continues a strong draft run for Aggies defenders.
He arrived in College Station after spending four seasons at Iowa State, then used his final college stop to boost his NFL stock in the SEC.
Onyedim gives Denver a defensive tackle with movement skills and versatility up front.
He’s not just a space-eater; he can fit into a rotation, play with energy and help the Broncos stay fresh along the interior.
That matters for a Denver defense looking to keep building around physicality. Third-round picks aren’t always asked to become instant stars, but Onyedim has the traits to contribute quickly if he adjusts to NFL speed.
The Broncos’ first pick of the weekend may not have arrived until No. 66, but it landed on a player with a clear role and upside.
For Onyedim, it’s a major step from Iowa State to Texas A&M to the NFL.
And for the Aggies, it’s another reminder that College Station keeps producing defensive talent for Sundays.
