Former Texas A&M star Christian Kirk is headed to San Francisco, where he’ll try to revive his production and add more Aggies flavor to the 49ers.

Christian Kirk is on the move again, and this time the former Texas A&M standout is headed to the Bay.

The San Francisco 49ers have added another recognizable name to their wide receiver room, bringing in Kirk as they continue reshaping the offense.

For Aggies fans, it’s another reminder of just how much NFL-caliber skill talent has come through College Station in recent years. And for Kirk, it’s a fresh opportunity to reassert himself after a few uneven seasons.

The former 2018 second-round pick has now worn four different NFL uniforms. He broke into the league with the Arizona Cardinals, spent three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then played last year with the Houston Texans before landing in San Francisco.

At his best, Kirk has been a real weapon.

His breakout campaign came in 2022, when he posted 84 catches for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns, easily the most productive season of his career.

That year showed the version of Kirk that NFL teams still believe is in there somewhere: quick out of the slot, dangerous after the catch, and capable of stretching a defense when he gets rhythm.

The issue since then has been consistency.

Last season, Kirk finished with 28 receptions for 297 yards and one touchdown in 13 games, numbers that don’t exactly scream impact playmaker. But San Francisco clearly sees value in the veteran, and the fit makes some sense.

The 49ers don’t need him to be a franchise-changing star. They need him to be reliable, savvy, and productive in spots.

That could work.

What makes this move even more fun from an Aggies perspective is the connection inside the room. Kirk now joins fellow Texas A&M product Mike Evans as part of San Francisco’s new-look receiver group, giving the 49ers a little extra Aggies flavor on the outside.

For Kirk, this signing feels like more than a roster move. It feels like a reset.

And if he finds even a little bit of that 2022 form again, San Francisco may have just found a low-risk addition with real upside.
