Despite racking up nearly 1,900 scrimmage yards and a Pro Bowl nod, Miami's explosive playmaker faces a puzzling slide down Bleacher Report’s latest elite player rankings.
De’Von Achane has quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s most explosive offensive weapons, and the former Texas A&M star is coming off a season that further cemented his status among the league’s best running backs.
Achane was a force for the Miami Dolphins in 2025, finishing with 1,350 rushing yards and 488 receiving yards for a total of 1,838 scrimmage yards.
He also scored 12 total touchdowns and earned his first Pro Bowl selection, continuing to show why his combination of speed, vision, and versatility makes him such a difficult player for defenses to contain.
That makes Bleacher Report’s placement of Achane at No. 132 on its NFL 1000 list for the 2026 season particularly puzzling.
The former Aggie was placed in the publication’s “high-quality starter” tier, but that description seems far too low for a player who has already established himself as one of the NFL’s premier playmakers.
Achane’s production last season certainly supports a much higher ranking. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry on 238 rushing attempts and consistently created explosive plays.
His ability to turn a small crease into a huge gain has become one of the defining elements of his game, and he has proven that his speed translates just as effectively against NFL defenses as it did during his time in College Station.
His impact also extends beyond the ground game. Achane’s 488 receiving yards last season showed how valuable he can be as a pass catcher, giving Miami another way to get the ball into the hands of one of its most dangerous players.
Defenses cannot simply focus on stopping him between the tackles because he can make an impact in space as a receiver as well.
Since entering the NFL, Achane has already surpassed 3,000 rushing yards while adding more than 1,200 receiving yards. His career average of 5.6 yards per carry further illustrates the efficiency and explosiveness he has brought to the Dolphins' offense.
Miami's recent decision to give Achane a four-year, $68 million extension also reflects his standing around the league.
The Dolphins clearly view him as a foundational piece of their offense, and his contract places him among the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.
Calling Achane a "high-quality starter" just does not adequately describe his current impact. After nearly 1,900 scrimmage yards and a Pro Bowl season, he belongs much closer to the top of the NFL’s player rankings than all the way back at No. 132.
