Playing through two fractured ribs, the 33-year-old veteran ignited the undefeated 49ers with a 113-yard masterclass against Seattle, proving his elite physicality remains a championship-caliber weapon.

Mike Evans has spent more than a decade proving he belongs among the NFL's elite wide receivers, and the former Texas A&M standout is showing no signs of slowing down in his first season with the San Francisco 49ers.

At 33 years old, Evans continues to produce at a high level, bringing his signature combination of size, physicality, and reliable hands to a San Francisco offense with championship aspirations. His latest performance against the Seattle Seahawks was arguably his most impressive outing of the young season.

Evans recorded seven receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' thrilling 32-29 victory over Seattle on Sunday. It marked his first 100-yard receiving performance of the season and helped San Francisco remain undefeated at 5-0. Even more impressive, Evans delivered while dealing with a rib injury.

But not just any rib injury, he played with two fractured ribs, and still make it look easy out on the field at 33 years of age.

The veteran receiver made his presence felt immediately, hauling in a two-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy on San Francisco's opening drive. However, his biggest contributions came when the 49ers needed an offensive spark late in the game.

Trailing 26-21 in the fourth quarter, San Francisco needed a play to help swing momentum. Evans answered the call, adjusting to a deep, back-shoulder throw from Purdy and securing a 32-yard reception despite tight coverage. The catch helped set up a touchdown to Brandin Cooks, giving the 49ers a lead they eventually turned into a victory.

Evans' ability to make contested catches remains one of his greatest strengths. At 6-5, he can use his frame to shield defenders from the football, creating opportunities that few receivers can consistently capitalize on. Those qualities were on full display against Seattle, even as he battled through an injury.

Through five games, Evans has totaled 24 receptions for 326 yards and three touchdowns, providing a dependable scoring threat as the team navigates its early-season schedule.

His production is particularly encouraging given the limited availability he experienced during the 2025 season, when he appeared in just eight games for Tampa Bay. His strong start in San Francisco suggests he still has plenty left to offer.

Evans established himself as a star during his two seasons at Texas A&M, recording 151 receptions for 2,499 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has carried that success into the professional ranks, building a career defined by consistency and big-play ability.

For Aggies fans, Evans' latest performance is another reminder of what made him special in College Station. Age may eventually catch up with every player, but through five games in 2026, Evans is making a convincing case that he still has plenty of football left to play.
