Jace LaViolette is battling strikeouts early in pro ball, but the former Texas A&M slugger’s elite power is already flashing again.
Jace LaViolette is still finding his rhythm in minor league baseball, but the former Texas A&M star is already reminding pitchers why his power made him one of the most feared bats in college baseball.
LaViolette, Texas A&M’s all-time home run leader, missed a full season after a late-season hand injury required multiple surgeries.

Now healthy and getting consistent at-bats again, he’s working through the normal growing pains that come with the jump to professional pitching.
The early stat line tells both sides of the story. Through 88 at-bats, LaViolette is hitting .193 with a .311 on-base percentage and a .720 OPS.
Those numbers aren’t where he wants them yet, but they don’t fully capture the impact he’s making when he squares the ball up.
Of his 17 hits, nine have gone for extra bases. That includes four doubles and five home runs, proof that the left-handed slugger’s calling card hasn’t disappeared. When LaViolette gets extended, the baseball still jumps.
The challenge, for now, is contact. LaViolette has struck out 43 times in 88 at-bats, a rate that shows how much adjustment remains as he faces better velocity, sharper breaking balls and more advanced sequencing.
Still, there’s important context. Although LaViolette was drafted in 2025, this is essentially his first long stretch against high-level pitching since his Texas A&M career was interrupted.
Timing and pitch recognition don’t come back overnight, especially after a major hand injury.

At Texas A&M, LaViolette blasted 68 home runs across three seasons and became one of the most productive power hitters in Aggies history. That kind of ability doesn’t vanish.
If he trims the swing-and-miss and keeps stacking at-bats, LaViolette has the profile to become a dangerous extra-base threat in pro ball. The power is already there. Now it’s about consistency.
