Texas A&M is gaining major momentum with four-star 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron II, one of the nation’s top young dual-threat passers.

Texas A&M football recruiting already has the No. 1-ranked 2027 class, and now the Aggies may be positioning themselves for another major quarterback win in the 2028 cycle.

Four-star quarterback Donald Tabron II has become a name to watch closely. The Detroit standout is ranked by Rivals as the No. 3 quarterback in the 2028 class, the No. 38 overall prospect and the No. 3 player in Michigan.

At 6-4 and 200 pounds, he already looks the part of a future high-major starter.

The production backs it up, too.

As a freshman, Tabron threw for 1,656 yards and 17 touchdowns, showing off the kind of arm strength, mobility and accuracy that makes coaching staffs chase quarterbacks years before signing day. He visited Texas A&M in January, and the Aggies have apparently made that trip count.

The biggest reason? Relationships.

New offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch have stayed connected with Tabron, giving Texas A&M real traction as summer visits approach.

According to recruiting buzz, the Aggies are in strong position to eventually land his commitment.

Still, this won’t be a quiet race.

Programs like LSU, Auburn, Ohio State and Kentucky are also expected to stay involved, and that matters.

Even if Texas A&M jumps out early, quarterback recruiting rarely stays simple, especially with a blue-chip passer this young.

The Aggies also have something to prove when it comes to quarterback development. Marcel Reed has brought some needed stability, but compared to programs like LSU and Ohio State, Texas A&M is still working to build a more consistent track record at the position.

That’s what makes Tabron so fascinating.

If Texas A&M can pair its 2027 recruiting surge with a 2028 quarterback centerpiece, the Aggies won’t just be building depth. They’ll be building a future.
