Texas A&M could enter its SEC opener against Kentucky without Ashton Bethel-Roman and Jamarion Morrow after both were downgraded to doubtful.

Wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman and running back Jamarion Morrow were downgraded to doubtful on Friday’s SEC availability report ahead of Saturday’s game against Kentucky at Kyle Field. Both players had previously been listed as questionable.
That’s a notable development for an Aggies offense that has already struggled at times to find consistency despite starting the season 2-0.
Bethel-Roman has started both games this season and has caught two passes for 13 yards. His bigger value comes from experience.
The junior has been a regular part of Texas A&M’s rotation since last season and entered 2026 as one of the Aggies’ returning starters at receiver.
If he can’t go, Terry Bussey becomes an even more important option alongside Mario Craver and Isaiah Horton.
Morrow’s status may matter even more.
He has handled 16 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown while also catching three passes for 32 yards through the first two games.
Morrow has worked behind and alongside Rueben Owens II, and his absence would likely create more opportunities for Owens and the younger backs behind him.
Texas A&M does have better news elsewhere.
Defensive end Anto Saka and wide receiver TK Norman are both listed as probable. Saka has recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery through two games, giving the Aggies useful depth on the defensive front.
Norman has appeared in both games but has yet to record a reception.
Texas A&M enters Saturday’s matchup after beating Arizona State 48-20, but the offense produced only 255 total yards in that game.
The defense and special teams helped create short fields, making the health of the skill-position group even more important as conference play begins.
Head coach Mike Elko has repeatedly emphasized depth and situational football, and that depth may be tested immediately against Kentucky.
The Wildcats come to College Station after a 45-17 loss to Alabama, while the Aggies are trying to stay unbeaten and establish themselves early in the SEC race.
