Texas A&M has cracked the top six for four-star 2028 edge George Parkinson IV, giving Mike Elko one more chance to add elite defensive firepower for the Aggies.
Texas A&M football recruiting isn’t slowing down just because Mike Elko’s 2027 class is nearly finished.
The Aggies have already begun hunting their next wave of defensive difference-makers, and four-star 2028 edge prospect George Parkinson IV has officially placed them among his six finalists.
Parkinson’s early list also includes Oregon, Penn State, Ohio State, LSU and Tennessee. That’s heavyweight company, but Texas A&M has shown it’s willing to trade punches with anyone on the recruiting trail.
The Pennsylvania standout is listed at 6-4 and approximately 235 pounds, giving him the length and frame college coaches crave in a modern pass rusher.
Parkinson has spent much of his high school career playing tight end, but his long-term ceiling appears to be considerably higher on defense.
He’s athletic enough to chase quarterbacks, big enough to develop into an every-down defender and raw enough to give a talented defensive staff plenty to work with.
In other words, he’s exactly the type of prospect Elko has built his reputation around.
Texas A&M has already secured one major building block for its 2028 defensive class. Four-star edge Chance Archangel committed to the Aggies in June after considering LSU and several other national programs.
Adding Parkinson alongside Archangel would give Texas A&M an intimidating early foundation at one of football’s most valuable positions.
The Aggies are also gaining traction with several offensive targets in the 2028 cycle, including four-star wide receiver Jayden Addai.
Addai is the son of former Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai, making him one of the more recognizable legacy prospects in the class.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M’s top-ranked 2027 recruiting class appears close to completion after the commitment of four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen.
Five-star running back Landon Williams-Callis remains undecided, although Texas currently holds momentum in that recruitment. The Aggies could instead turn up the pressure on four-star Texas Tech running back pledge SaRod Baker.
There’s still a long road ahead with Parkinson, and early top-school lists can change quickly. Still, making the first major cut matters.
Texas A&M isn’t merely preparing for the future. Elko and his staff are trying to stockpile the kind of defensive athletes who can terrorize SEC quarterbacks for years—and Parkinson could become the next centerpiece of that plan.
