Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class gets stronger with elite Tomball kicker Andres von der Meden joining the Aggies.
Texas A&M football keeps stacking wins in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and this one could quietly become a massive special teams steal.
Elite kicker Andres von der Meden committed to Mike Elko and the Aggies on Monday, giving Texas A&M the nation’s No. 1-ranked kicker according to Kohl’s Kicking.

The Tomball, Texas, standout chose the Aggies after also drawing scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Houston, Texas Tech and Arkansas.
For a Texas A&M 2027 recruiting class that already sits at No. 1 nationally, this is another statement.
It’s not just about landing blue-chip linemen, defensive backs and offensive weapons.
Elko is building the whole machine, and that includes the guy who can flip field position, steal points and decide tight SEC games.
Von der Meden visited College Station over the weekend, and the trip clearly hit the right notes.
Not long after seeing the program up close, he shut things down and became the eighth in-state commitment in the Aggies’ class.
His junior numbers at Tomball High School show why Texas A&M pushed.
Von der Meden averaged 62.6 yards per kickoff, with 23 of his 37 kickoffs going for touchbacks. He was automatic on extra points, finishing 25-of-25, and connected on 4-of-6 field goals with a long of 43 yards.
He also brings punting value, averaging 38.2 yards per punt with a season-long of 55 yards and two punts downed inside the 20.
That versatility gives Texas A&M another weapon in a league where hidden yards can become the difference between surviving and watching a ranked win slip away.
The Aggies now have 20 commitments in the 2027 class. Von der Meden also becomes the third player in the group ranked No. 1 at his position, joining five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews and five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey.
