Former Texas A&M star Mike Evans leaves Tampa Bay after 12 seasons to chase another Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers.

Former Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver Mike Evans is starting a new chapter in his NFL career, reportedly agreeing to a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers after spending the first 12 seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The deal is reportedly worth $60.4M across three years.

For Aggies fans, the move marks another milestone in the incredible career of one of the most dominant wide receivers ever to come out of Texas A&M football.

Evans leaves Tampa Bay as arguably the most important offensive player in franchise history. Drafted seventh overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, the former Aggies star immediately became the Buccaneers’ go-to playmaker and never looked back.

Over his Tampa Bay career, Evans piled up 13,052 receiving yards and 108 touchdowns, numbers that place him among the greatest wide receivers in NFL history.

He also holds the record for 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, tying Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the longest streak ever recorded.

That consistency started long before the NFL.

At Texas A&M, Evans was a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses, using his size, physicality, and elite ball skills to dominate the SEC.

His breakout 2013 season alongside Johnny Manziel cemented him as one of the most dangerous receivers in college football before launching his first-round NFL career.

In Tampa Bay, Evans became the franchise’s all-time leader in points with 662, serving as the team’s primary deep threat and red-zone weapon for over a decade.

He was also widely respected inside the locker room, mentoring younger receivers such as Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Emeka Egbuka.

Despite Tampa Bay making a strong effort to keep him, Evans ultimately decided to pursue a new challenge.

“Mike Evans' decision to leave Tampa was never about money,” his agent said in a statement. “The Buccaneers were extremely aggressive in their pursuit… In the end, this decision simply came down to Mike wanting a new challenge and a fresh opportunity while he still feels he has a great deal left to give the game.”

At 32 years old, Evans clearly believes he still has more history to make.

Joining the San Francisco 49ers, a team consistently in the Super Bowl conversation, gives the Texas A&M legend another opportunity to chase a championship before his Hall of Fame career comes to an end.

And for Aggies fans watching from College Station, one thing remains clear: Mike Evans is still proving why he’s one of the greatest players Texas A&M has ever produced.
