Texas A&M’s PFF grades spotlight Marcel Reed, Ryan Henderson and a defense that crushed Missouri State while young Aggies flashed major upside.
No. 8 Texas A&M opened the 2026 season with a 50-0 demolition of Missouri State, and the latest Pro Football Focus grades show where the Aggies were strongest ... and where Mike Elko’s team still has work to do.
Texas A&M wasn’t sharp offensively from the start.
The Aggies led just 19-0 at halftime while the rebuilt offensive line surrendered early pressure on quarterback Marcel Reed.
But the group settled in after halftime, and Reed ultimately delivered a steady performance.
He completed 21 of 30 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns, good for a 70 percent completion rate.
PFF gave Reed an 80.6 offensive grade and a 78.6 passing grade, the best overall offensive mark among Texas A&M’s primary contributors.
Freshman running back Carsyn Baker wasn’t far behind at 79.8. Baker scored on a 12-yard run on his first collegiate carry, while fellow freshman KJ Edwards also graded well at 74.3.
The offensive line showed more promise than the uneven first half suggested. LSU transfer Tyree Adams finished with a 79.3 overall grade, including an 81.0 pass-blocking mark.
That’s encouraging for an Aggies offense that needs the left tackle position to stabilize quickly.
Defensively, Texas A&M was dominant.
Missouri State managed only 67 total yards, the fewest allowed by an Elko-coached Texas A&M team and the program’s lowest total surrendered since 1978.
Ryan Henderson led the way with an 86.4 defensive grade. He added two tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble in his Aggies debut.
Freshman defensive lineman Landon Rink graded at 82.0, while linebacker Noah Mikhail posted a 78.4. Mikhail also led Texas A&M with seven tackles.
The secondary had a quiet night for a good reason. Missouri State rarely threatened downfield, and starting cornerbacks Dezz Ricks and Julio Humphrey combined to allow no receptions on four targets.
Texas A&M also got immediate production from transfer receiver Isaiah Horton, who caught four passes for a game-high 76 yards and scored his first touchdown as an Aggie.
The opener wasn’t flawless, especially up front early.
But a 50-point win, a shutout and several strong individual grades give Elko plenty to build on before Arizona State visits Kyle Field on Sept. 12.
