Texas A&M reliever Clayton Freshcorn is gaining national attention after a dominant start, piling up seven saves and a 2.00 ERA.
Texas A&M baseball is getting national recognition for one of its biggest bullpen weapons, as Clayton Freshcorn has landed on the Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List.
The honor shines a spotlight on the best relief pitchers in NCAA Division I baseball, and Freshcorn has clearly earned his place in that conversation with how steady he’s been for the Aggies this season.

Freshcorn has become a key piece of the Texas A&M bullpen, giving the Aggies a reliable late-game arm in pressure spots.
Through 17 appearances out of relief, the right-hander has posted a 2-1 record, collected seven saves, and built a sharp 2.00 ERA. His seven saves are tied for the SEC lead and place him among the top closers in the country.
What makes Freshcorn’s season even more impressive is the way he’s done it.
He’s struck out 33 hitters over 27 innings while showing elite command, putting together an 8.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio. That kind of efficiency has made him one of the most dependable bullpen arms in the conference.
He hasn’t just been closing out quick ninth innings, either. Freshcorn has delivered length when Texas A&M needed it most, with three of his saves stretching to three full innings.
That versatility gives the Aggies more than just a closer. It gives them a reliever who can slam the door in multiple ways.
The Waller, Texas, product has also been remarkably consistent. He’s kept opponents off the board in 13 of his 17 outings, a sign of just how often coach Michael Earley can trust him in critical moments.
Now, Freshcorn takes that momentum into a big SEC road test. Texas A&M heads to Gainesville for a three-game series against No. 21 Florida, with Friday’s opener set for 5:30 p.m.
If the Aggies find themselves in another tight late-game battle, Freshcorn will likely be right in the middle of it.
