Terry Bussey’s bigger frame, sharper routes and growing confidence are turning heads at Texas A&M camp as he pushes for a major role in 2026.
The Texas A&M Aggies may have found their next breakout weapon, and Terry Bussey is doing everything he can to make sure nobody misses it.
Bussey entered fall camp with plenty to prove after catching 18 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown last season.
Now, after an offseason focused on adding size and refining his craft, the former five-star prospect looks much closer to the player Texas A&M hoped he would become.
He’s up to 5-foot-10, 205 pounds, and that added strength is showing up immediately.
Bussey has already generated buzz during preseason practices, including an eye-catching one-handed catch on Saturday that quickly became one of the biggest talking points around camp. More important than the highlight, though, is the consistency behind it.
His route running looks cleaner. His hands look more dependable. He’s playing stronger through contact. And the coaching staff appears increasingly comfortable giving him meaningful reps.
That matters in a wide receiver room that suddenly looks loaded.
Mario Craver remains one of Texas A&M’s proven options. Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton brings size and experience.
Ashton Bethel-Roman is also in the mix. Bussey doesn’t have to become the unquestioned WR1 to dramatically change the offense.
He just has to force his way onto the field.
And right now, he’s doing exactly that.
Bussey’s development is especially interesting because he wasn’t always viewed strictly as a receiver.
His athleticism gave him legitimate options at running back and cornerback coming out of high school.
Mike Elko and offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, however, saw wide receiver as the position that offered him the best long-term ceiling.
That decision required patience.
Now it may be paying off.
Bussey is competing for the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver role, and if his camp performance continues, he could carve out a much larger role than those labels suggest.
In a modern offense, three- and four-wide receiver sets create plenty of chances for explosive players to make an impact.
That’s where Bussey becomes dangerous.
Texas A&M already has established weapons. What the Aggies needed was another player capable of stressing defenses in space and creating matchup problems.
Bussey suddenly looks ready to be that guy. The hype around him isn’t just recruiting nostalgia anymore. It’s starting to look earned.
