Texas A&M softball is headed back to Clearwater in 2027, joining a loaded 11-team field that includes eight programs from last year’s NCAA Tournament.
Texas A&M softball is heading back to one of the toughest early-season events in the country.
The Aggies are officially part of the 2027 Clearwater Invitational, scheduled for Feb. 18-21 at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Florida. It’ll mark Texas A&M’s fourth appearance in five seasons at the ESPN Events tournament.
And this field is no joke.
Texas A&M will be joined by Clemson, East Carolina, Florida State, Liberty, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Texas Tech, UCF, Virginia Tech and Washington.
Eight of the 11 teams reached the 2026 NCAA Tournament, giving the Aggies another chance to stack quality wins before conference play even begins.
That’s exactly what makes Clearwater valuable.
Texas A&M has historically handled the event well, posting a 10-5 all-time record and winning at least three games in each of its previous three appearances.
Last season was a perfect example of how quickly a weekend like this can swing.
The Aggies opened with close losses to No. 23 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Duke, then responded with three straight wins over NC State, James Madison and Northwestern.
That kind of bounce-back matters.
Early-season tournaments aren’t just about collecting wins. They’re about learning how a roster handles elite competition, tight games and quick turnarounds before the schedule gets even nastier.
The 2027 field offers plenty of intrigue.
There’s another matchup opportunity with Oklahoma State, a possible in-state clash with Texas Tech, and high-profile opponents from the ACC, Big Ten, SEC and Big 12.
For Texas A&M, that creates a valuable measuring stick.
The Aggies already know Clearwater.
Now they’ll get another chance to use it as an early-season proving ground.
The exact schedule hasn’t been announced yet, but that may be the most interesting part still to come. With this many NCAA Tournament teams in one event, there won’t be many soft spots on the card.
And for a program with postseason ambitions, that’s probably exactly the point.
If Texas A&M wants to know early where it stands nationally, Clearwater will give it an answer.
