Texas A&M missed on John Meredith, but the Aggies are chasing Joshua Dobson, Albert Simien and Eric McFarland while raiding Texas baseball.

Texas A&M Aggies recruiting is getting loud again, and the message is pretty simple ... Mike Elko’s program isn’t backing away from anybody - not Texas, not LSU, not Notre Dame, not Michigan and not South Carolina.

Yes, the Aggies took a punch when five-star cornerback John Meredith III committed to the Texas Longhorns. Losing the nation’s No. 1 defensive back to your biggest rival stings.

There’s no sugarcoating that one. Meredith was a major target, and Texas landing him gives the Longhorns a headline win in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

But this isn’t the old sit-around-and-cope version of Texas A&M football. The Aggies still have big-game hunting on the board, and they’re positioned to answer quickly.

The biggest name to watch now is Joshua Dobson, the No. 2 cornerback in America.

Dobson has Texas A&M in his final three, along with Michigan and South Carolina, and his July 1 commitment date gives the Aggies a chance to flip the cornerback conversation in a hurry.

If A&M loses Meredith but lands Dobson, that’s not a disaster. That’s a reload.

Then there’s five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien, who is set to announce June 26. LSU and Notre Dame are both trying to crash the party, but Texas A&M has been pushing hard here for months.

The Aggies already beat Notre Dame for five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, and stealing Simien too would be the kind of recruiting haymaker that gets message boards melting down by lunch.

Wide receiver Eric McFarland is another name circling the runway.

The IMG Academy standout is just outside five-star status but has the type of explosive profile that can change fast with another monster season.

His June 28 commitment gives Texas A&M another real chance to stack momentum before July even arrives.

And while football grabs most of the oxygen, Aggies baseball may have delivered the nastiest rivalry shot of the week.

Texas A&M hiring Nolan Cain away from Jim Schlossnagle’s Texas staff is a monster move.

Cain helped recruit major Aggies names like Jace LaViolette, Gavin Grahovac and Caden Sorrell, and bringing him back to College Station doesn’t just strengthen A&M. It weakens Texas.

That’s the part Longhorn fans won’t enjoy hearing.

From five-star football battles to a baseball staff power play, Texas A&M isn’t just collecting wins. It’s applying pressure across the entire Lone Star Showdown.
