Texas A&M wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman exited Thursday’s practice after a hard collision, raising fresh concern about the Aggies’ deep-threat options.

Texas A&M wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman gave Aggies fans a scare Thursday when he left practice early after a hard collision on a downfield catch.

For a team searching for answers in its passing game heading into the 2026 season, that’s not the kind of spring headline Mike Elko wanted.

Bethel-Roman has become one of the more intriguing names in the Texas A&M offense, and his health matters in a big way.

The junior receiver arrived in College Station as a consensus 4-star prospect and ESPN’s No. 207 overall player in his class.

After redshirting his first season, he started to flash real playmaking ability last year, finishing third on the team with 24 catches, 503 receiving yards, and five touchdown receptions.

Those numbers only tell part of the story. Bethel-Roman’s straight-line speed and ability to stretch a defense make him one of the Aggies’ most important vertical threats. With KC Concepcion now off to the NFL draft, Texas A&M is counting on new voices to emerge in the wide receiver room.

Mario Craver looks like the most natural candidate to handle a featured role, but his game is best suited for quick touches, space plays, and yards-after-catch opportunities.

That makes Bethel-Roman especially valuable. He’s the type of receiver who can flip field position, open up the middle of the field, and force safeties to respect the deep ball.

According to Carter Karels of GigEm247, Bethel-Roman left practice after landing hard on a deep route and did not return. Texas A&M did not provide an immediate update on his condition.

Until more is known, the Aggies can only hope Thursday’s exit was precautionary. If Bethel-Roman is healthy, he still looks like a prime breakout candidate in Texas A&M’s offense this fall.
