Aggies Baseball Places 3 on All-SEC Preseason Team Ahead of 2026 cover image

Aggie bats ignite with All-SEC talent as pitching finds its footing. A potent offense aims to lead Texas A&M early in the 2026 season.

With Opening Day less than two weeks away, the Texas A&M Aggies are finalizing preparations for the 2026 season, knowing exactly where their strength lies.

While questions remain on the pitching side, the offense looks ready to carry the load early.

The most pressing concern is the injury to left-hander Caden McCoy, which has left the weekend rotation unsettled heading into February. Until roles on the mound become clearer, Texas A&M will rely heavily on a lineup that returns proven production and upside across multiple spots.

That confidence starts with Gavin Grahovac, a preseason All-SEC First Team selection at third base.

Grahovac’s 2025 season was cut short by injury, but even in limited action, he showed why expectations remain high. In six games, he posted a .227/.346/.545 line with two home runs and six RBIs. Fully healthy again, Grahovac enters 2026 motivated and positioned as a cornerstone in the heart of the order.

Alongside him is Caden Sorrell, another First Team All-SEC honoree who brings established middle-of-the-order firepower. Across 26 games last season, Sorrell hit .337 with a .430 on-base percentage and a .739 slugging mark, driving in 31 runs and blasting 12 home runs.

His combination of power, plate discipline, and athleticism gives the Aggies a reliable offensive anchor from day one.

The offense should also benefit from continuity and coaching emphasis.

Head coach Michael Earley returns with a hands-on role in shaping the lineup, while new assistant coach Cliff Pennington takes charge of infield defense and base running. That pairing should help sharpen execution while the pitching staff works through early-season adjustments.

On the mound, Clayton Freshcorn becomes a key figure in McCoy’s absence.

The sophomore right-hander made 23 appearances last season, finishing with a 4.67 ERA and 33 strikeouts against just nine walks. More importantly, he closed the year strong - allowing only two hits, striking out 11, and giving up no earned runs over his final 8.1 innings.

That late momentum could translate into a larger role as the Aggies seek stability in their rotation.

With three players earning Preseason All-SEC honors, expectations around the program remain high.

While the pitching picture may take time to settle, Texas A&M’s offensive foundation provides a steady base as the Aggies look to set the tone early in the 2026 season.
