Texas A&M fans should be riding an all-time high right now, and for the most part, they are.
The Aggies are the best they've been in 30 years, they've got a stable head coach in Mike Elko, a Heisman-caliber quarterback returning in 2026, and a home College Football Playoff game at Kyle Field against Miami.

That’s a dream scenario in maroon and white. And then came the post on X.
On Wednesday, ESPN's College GameDay announced it would make the trip to College Station for the Aggies' first-round CFP matchup. Instead of universal celebration, a familiar pit formed in a lot of Aggies' stomachs.
College GameDay is fun, but for Texas A&M, it's also… complicated.
History says Aggies plus GameDay equals trouble. Texas A&M is just 1-3 when hosting the show in College Station, and 1-5 overall in games featured on GameDay.
In 2024 alone, Aggie Park hosted the set twice, and both days ended in disappointment.
First, a season-opening loss to Notre Dame and Riley Leonard in Conner Weigman's debut as the starter. Later, a gut-punch defeat at home to Texas in the long-awaited return of the Lone Star Showdown.
So is there really a "College GameDay curse" in Aggieland, or is this just more fuel for Battered Aggie Syndrome?
If there were ever a year to shatter that narrative, it's this one.
Texas A&M has already shaken off a few rumored hexes, from the "Ted Cruz Curse" to the "Ranked Road Opponent Curse," and this team has looked far too good to be defined by an old TV-atmosphere stat.

Elko certainly isn't buying into the doom.
He's leaning into the advantage that comes with the 12th Man packed into Kyle Field for an 11 a.m. CT kickoff.
"I think playing in Kyle Field is an advantage to the home team," Elko said. "I'm excited to see our students turn out. I'm excited to see our fans turn out."
The stage will be massive. GameDay will do a rare Friday night show in Norman for Alabama–Oklahoma, then roll into College Station for Miami–Texas A&M on Saturday, Dec. 20.
The winner advances to face Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
Curse or not, the Aggies have an opportunity that hasn't existed in three decades. The question now ... will GameDay mark another heartbreak, or the moment Texas A&M finally flips the script?
