Cashius Howell just joined Myles Garrett as the only Aggies defenders named Walter Camp All-Americans. Now, he's chasing even more history in the CFP.

After nearly a decade, Myles Garrett finally has company on Texas A&M's defensive Mount Rushmore.

Junior defensive end Cashius Howell was named to the Walter Camp All-America First Team during the ESPN College Football Awards Show, becoming just the second Aggie defender ever to receive the honor. The first? Garrett, in 2016.

And with the College Football Playoff looming, Howell's story isn't finished.

The former Bowling Green transfer has been a wrecking ball for the Aggies in 2025, leading the SEC in sacks with 11.5 and planting himself among the most feared defenders in college football.

He became the first player in Texas A&M history to be named SEC Defensive Line Player of the Week four times in a single season, something even Garrett never accomplished, and one of only six players in SEC history to do so since the award's inception in 2004.

Howell also took home SEC Defensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Lombardi Award, and Chuck Bednarik Award.

His campaign has made him a household name among NFL scouts, and he's widely projected as a first-round pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

Over two seasons under head coach Mike Elko, Howell has recorded 15.5 sacks in College Station and 25 total in his collegiate career, including his time at Bowling Green.

Garrett's school record of 32.5 is still out of reach - for now - but Howell has already entered the conversation as one of the greatest pass rushers to ever wear maroon and white.

But Howell isn't interested in personal accolades just yet.

With Texas A&M's first-ever College Football Playoff game set for Dec. 20 against the Miami Hurricanes, he'll have one more chance to leave his mark on the national stage, and possibly vault his name into even greater territory.

Howell was the only Aggie named to either the first or second Walter Camp teams, making his presence even more defining for this resurgent Texas A&M squad.

In a season built on dominance in the trenches, Howell has been the tone-setter and a disruptive, relentless force with an NFL future and unfinished business in the present.

If there was ever a player worthy of following in Garrett's footsteps, it's Cashius Howell ... and he might just be carving a legacy that stands right beside him.
