The Texas A&M Aggies secure the No. 3 ranking, clinching a crucial first-round CFP bye.

The Texas A&M Aggies are holding steady as one of the nation's elite, remaining locked in the coveted No. 3 spot in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday.

This ranking confirms the Aggies' trajectory toward an unprecedented season, placing them behind only undefeated Ohio State and Indiana, and ahead of Georgia.

More importantly, this top-four position means that under the new 12-team CFP format, the Aggies are currently slated to receive a first-round bye, regardless of the outcome of the SEC Championship Game.

This guarantees the 11-0 Aggies would immediately advance to the CFP quarterfinals, where they would currently face the winner of the 6-seed Oregon and 11-seed Miami matchup.

The stakes could not be higher as Texas A&M prepares for its regular season finale, a road trip to face the No. 16 Texas Longhorns in the return of the Lone Star Showdown on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.

The Aggies have a straightforward path to their first SEC Championship Game appearance since joining the conference. A win against Texas clinches their berth in the title game set for December 6th in Atlanta.

Even with a loss, the Aggies could still clinch if both Alabama loses to Auburn AND Ole Miss falls to Mississippi State.

With an appearance in the CFP rankings in eight of the last twelve seasons since 2014, and never ranking higher than No. 4 before this season, the current No. 3 ranking is an all-time high and a testament to the program's powerhouse status.

The final CFP rankings are set to be released on Sunday, December 7th, but for now, the path is clear ... win, and you're in the SEC Championship Game with a secured first-round CFP bye.
