Transfer center fielder Aiden Robbins was a hot commodity in the portal for a reason, and that was on full display Saturday when he hit for the cycle against Michigan State.
Robbins became the first Longhorn to record a single, double, triple and home run in the same game since CJ Hinojosa in 2015.
The transfer from Seton Hall said it was his second career cycle. His first one came on his Senior Day in high school.
"It was a really crazy moment," Robbins said after Saturday's game. "But it can't be any crazier than this one, that's for sure."
The hit that clinched the cycle was an opposite-field solo home run off the right field pole, extending Texas' lead to two over the Spartans.
"I was just hoping it to go over the fence. I didn't even know it hit off the pole until I watched the replay," Robbins said. "I can't even tell you what I felt; it was just all in the moment."
However, Robbins' double in the sixth inning was originally ruled as a single and error, which wasn't corrected until after the game.
So even though he accomplished an incredibly rare feat, the celebrations had to be put on hold - at least until postgame.
Either way, Robbins wasn't caught up in the noise of a potential cycle, he was just trying to help Texas win the game.
"I really wasn't thinking about it too much. When I get up there, it's all about the next at bat," he said. "I was just hyped up to get another run on the board for my guys."
His HR accounted for one of his two runs batted in. His other came in the first inning when he drove in leadoff hitter Ethan Mendoza via a single.
Robbins finished the afternoon 4-4, increasing his batting average to .400 on the season.
Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle had some high praise for the veteran center fielder after the game.
"He's an emotional player, in a good way," Schlossnagle said. "He plays with emotion, but he's not emotional... He loves being here, feeds off the crowd, just really loves playing baseball."
Batting in the three hole and anchoring the Longhorns outfield, Robbins will be one of Texas' most important players this season.
And his hot start is a huge reason the Longhorns have hit the ground running with a 6-0 record.
"It's everything and more," Robbins said when asked about the start to his Texas career. "I can't stress enough that this is a place for me, and that's what I felt when I walked in the building."
