Jim Schlossnagle just added another line to a Hall of Fame resume — and he did it in burnt orange.
The No. 3 Texas Longhorns beat Baylor 5-2 on Saturday night at Daikin Park, delivering Schlossnagle his 1,000th career win as a Division I head coach.
The milestone places the Texas head baseball coach among just seven active skippers to reach four digits and inside an exclusive group in NCAA history.
The victory also kept Texas baseball unbeaten at 10-0, making the Longhorns one of the final undefeated teams left in the country.
And Texas wasted no time setting the tone. Freshman Anthony Pack Jr. sparked the early surge, driving in three runs with a pair of RBI singles in his first two trips to the plate.
Casey Borba added a perfectly executed safety squeeze to cap a three-inning stretch that built a 5-0 cushion.
From there, it was all about pitching. Starter Luke Harrison handed things over to a bullpen that slammed the door.
Max Grubbs (2-0) earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings, and Michael Winter, Haiden Leffew, Ethan Walker and Thomas Burns combined to finish the final 5.2 frames without surrendering a run. Baylor managed just four hits on the night.
For Schlossnagle, the journey to 1,000 wins has spanned 25 seasons across UNLV, TCU, Texas A&M and now Texas.
His career record sits at 1,000-469, a .681 winning percentage that reflects sustained excellence across multiple programs.
But there’s little time for reflection. Texas wraps up the BRUCE BOLT College Classic on Sunday against Ohio State, chasing an 11-0 start and more early-season momentum.
The milestone win cements Schlossnagle’s legacy. The perfect record suggests he and the Longhorns might just be getting started.
