The No. 6-seed Longhorns took care of business in their first elimination game of the Men's College World Series.

Adrian Rodriguez hit the third cycle in Men's College World Series history in a five-hit, seven-RBI performance that powered Texas to a 14-2 win over Alabama on Monday in Omaha.

"A-Rod's" seven runs batted in matches the MCWS single-game record; he is the seventh player ever to hit that mark.

The 6-seed Longhorns eliminated the 7-seed Crimson Tide and now continue their trek through the loser's bracket on Tuesday. Texas will play the loser of Monday night's matchup between Oklahoma and 3-seed Georgia.

Casey Borba hit a leadoff single and advanced on a wild pitch before a turkey of run-scoring hits: RBI singles by Anthony Pack Jr. and Mendoza, then a two-run triple by Rodriguez that was initially ruled an error by the left fielder. It was changed later on, sealing his opportunity for the cycle.

The Crimson Tide got a solo homer off Riojas to make the score 7-2 in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, the Longhorns turned to the long ball themselves.

Pack hit a two-out, two-run homer to left field. Then Rodriguez, who singled in the fifth inning but was left stranded, completed the cycle with his fifth home run of the season to drive in two more.

Texas kept the offense going with Pack's third hit of the game scoring Aiden Robbins, who reached on an error to start the bottom of the eighth inning. Pinch-hitter Blake Peterson ripped a ball to first base with no outs and a runner on third. The runner scored to represent Peterson's first career run batted in, making the score 13-2.

Rodriguez moved to 5-for-5 at the plate and drove in Pack with a double down the right field line moments later.

On the mound, Riojas improved to 6-2 on the year after allowing six hits and two runs in 6.0 innings of work while striking out seven.

Texas plays at 8 p.m. CT on Tuesday against either the Sooners or Bulldogs.
