Texas baseball fans planning a Saturday afternoon at UFCU Disch-Falk Field will need to adjust their schedules.
Because of inclement weather in the Austin area, the Longhorns’ matchup against UC Davis has been pushed back to a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
The time change allows conditions to improve while keeping the game on track for the weekend series. All previously purchased tickets remain valid for the updated start time.
The schedule shift comes one night after No. 3 Texas opened its season in emphatic fashion.
In the first meeting between the programs, the Longhorns rolled past UC Davis 12-2 in a seven-inning run-rule victory Friday night. The offensive fireworks were immediate, and one of the biggest storylines was the debut of transfer outfielder Aiden Robbins.
Robbins, one of the most buzzed-about additions of the offseason, wasted no time introducing himself to the Texas faithful.
The Pennsylvania native finished 2-for-4 with three RBI, including a towering two-run home run in the third inning that gave the Longhorns a 3-1 advantage. From there, Texas’ lineup found its rhythm and never looked back.
The performance was hardly surprising for those who followed Robbins’ career before arriving in Austin.
At Seton Hall last season, he hit an eye-popping .422 across 53 games, collecting 19 doubles, five triples and six home runs. His ability to combine high contact rates with gap power made him one of the most coveted bats in the transfer portal.
Through two collegiate seasons, Robbins now owns a .369 career batting average, underscoring the consistency he brings to a Texas lineup with College World Series aspirations.
While Friday’s statement win generated plenty of excitement, Saturday’s weather-related adjustment ensures fans will experience the action under improved conditions. A 6:30 p.m. start also sets up a primetime atmosphere at Disch-Falk Field, where the Longhorns will look to secure the series and continue building early-season momentum.
For a Texas baseball team ranked No. 3 nationally and eyeing a deep postseason run, both flexibility and firepower are key. Saturday night in Austin will offer another opportunity to showcase both.
