The No. 1 Texas men’s swimming and diving team added another chapter to one of college athletics’ most ridiculous streaks, capturing its 47th straight conference championship Saturday night at the 2026 SEC Championships in Knoxville.
The Longhorns piled up 1,449.5 points, comfortably ahead of Florida (1,292) and Tennessee (1,061.5), and walked away with nine gold medals and 20 total podium finishes.
Forty-seven in a row. Across three conferences. Let that sink in.
In just his second season on the Forty Acres, head coach Bob Bowman now has an SEC crown to pair with Texas’ previous Southwest Conference and Big 12 dominance.
The Longhorns have claimed 68 total league championships in program history, and they’re not slowing down.
Saturday night felt like a victory lap. Hubert Kos put on a show, headlined by a pool-record 1:40.53 in the 200-yard IM to lead a Texas podium sweep alongside Baylor Nelson (1:41.09) and Camden Taylor (1:41.50).
Kos also grabbed gold in the 100 backstroke (43.86), another facility record, and added a silver in the 200 back (1:36.80).
Nate Germonprez was untouchable in the breaststroke events, winning the 100 (49.92) and setting an SEC record in the 200 (1:48.94). Rex Maurer dominated the 500 freestyle (4:08.46), while Nelson captured the 400 IM in 3:35.75.
The relays were just as ruthless. Texas set a program and pool record in the 400 medley relay (2:57.64) behind Will Modglin, Germonprez, Kos and Taylor. The 800 free relay also struck gold in 6:06.24.
From diving points by Nick Harris to depth finishes across the board, Texas flexed its balance and firepower.
Different conference. Same result. The Longhorn machine just keeps churning.
