Texas Rallies Past Oklahoma Behind Dailyn Swain’s All-Around Performance cover image

Trailing big, Texas staged a furious comeback fueled by Dailyn Swain's dominant all-around game, snatching victory from Oklahoma.

Texas showed grit, balance, and poise on Saturday, erasing a double-digit first-half deficit to defeat the  Oklahoma Sooners 79-69 at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma, and continue its recent dominance in the series.

The comeback win marked another resilient road performance for the Longhorns, who improved to 13-9 overall and 4-5 in SEC play.

The afternoon didn’t start smoothly for Texas.

Oklahoma raced out to a 23-9 lead midway through the first half, controlling the tempo and knocking down timely perimeter shots.

The Longhorns, however, refused to let the game spiral.

A late surge before the break trimmed the deficit, and despite a late three from Xzayvier Brown giving the Sooners a narrow 33-30 halftime edge, momentum had clearly shifted.

That shift was driven by Dailyn Swain, who delivered one of his most complete performances of the season.

Swain finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, impacting the game in every phase. His activity on the glass and ability to facilitate offense steadied Texas when it needed composure most.

Oklahoma briefly regained control early in the second half, stretching the lead to 61-55 after another Brown triple. But Texas answered with its best stretch of the game.

Simeon Wilcher sparked the run with a timely 3-pointer, and Jordan Pope followed by burying two more from deep. The 9-3 burst flipped the scoreboard and put the Longhorns in front for good with just over three minutes remaining.

Defensively, Texas tightened the screws late.

Nijel Pack, who led Oklahoma with 23 points on nine-of-22 shooting, misfired on consecutive 3-point attempts during crunch time. Swain then delivered the dagger, knocking down a jumper with 1:32 left to extend the lead to eight.

From there, Texas calmly closed the game at the free-throw line.

Matas Vokietaitis chipped in 14 points, Camden Heide added 13, and Pope finished with 12. Wilcher also reached double figures with 10 points.

For Oklahoma, Brown and Derrion Reid each scored 15 points, but the Sooners couldn’t keep pace down the stretch. The loss dropped Oklahoma to 11-11 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

The win continued a remarkable trend for Texas, which has now won nine of the last 10 meetings against Oklahoma, including seven straight in Norman.

The Longhorns will look to build on that momentum when they return home Tuesday to host the South Carolina Gamecocks.
