Arch Manning was reportedly booed at the Manning Passing Academy as Trinidad Chambliss hype surged ahead of their October SEC showdown in Austin.

Arch Manning getting booed at the Manning Passing Academy sounds almost too bizarre to be true. But according to Todd McShay, that’s exactly what happened.

The Texas Longhorns quarterback was reportedly jeered by a small group of campers during the Manning family’s annual passing academy, an event created by Archie Manning and long associated with one of football’s most famous families.

McShay described the scene on The Brandon Walker College Football Show.

“There are some … in the stands who are actually booing Arch,” McShay said, adding that the group was small but loud enough to stand out.

The reason?

Apparently, Trinidad Chambliss fever is very real.

The Ole Miss quarterback has become one of the hottest names in the SEC entering 2026, and McShay said the crowd at the camp was fully buying into the hype.

“Everyone in the crowd is in love with Trinidad Chambliss,” he said.

That’s an incredible subplot considering the setting.

"I'm down at the Manning Passing Academy, and there are some (expletives) in the stands who are actually booing Arch. And I'm like, the Manning family has invited you in, one of 1,400 campers, to come in, and we've got a group of like 15 kids that are booing him," McShay said during an appearance on The Brandon Walker College Football Show.

Arch Manning has been part of the Manning Passing Academy for years and now works as a counselor alongside Peyton, Eli and Cooper. Yet even on family turf, he’s finding out that being the Texas quarterback comes with a target.

And this isn’t just random fan noise.

Chambliss has been gaining serious national momentum. USA TODAY Sports recently ranked him as the top quarterback in the SEC, and McShay has gone even further, arguing that Chambliss could become the face of college football this season.

“He is so refreshing when you get around this guy,” McShay said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

That sets up one of the most fascinating games on the 2026 schedule.

Ole Miss visits Texas on Oct. 24, putting Chambliss and Manning on the same field in what could become a Heisman Trophy showcase and a major College Football Playoff measuring stick.

The irony is almost perfect.

Manning entered college football with one of the loudest hype machines the sport has ever seen. Now Chambliss is becoming the trendy choice to steal some of that spotlight.

None of this means Arch has suddenly become an underdog.

He’s still the quarterback of Texas, still one of the sport’s most recognizable players and still capable of flipping the entire conversation with a dominant season.

But the message from that summer camp was pretty clear. The SEC isn’t handing him anything. And on Oct. 24, he’ll get the perfect chance to answer all of it.
