Arch Manning enters 2026 with CFP hopes, massive expectations and little room for error as Texas leans on its star quarterback to deliver.

Arch Manning won’t be able to hide from the spotlight in 2026, not that anyone expected him to.

The Texas quarterback enters the season as one of the biggest names in college football, and with that comes a simple reality: this is the year he has to turn hype into results.

Manning showed flashes of brilliance during the second half of the 2025 season, looking every bit like the kind of quarterback who could carry Texas football back into the College Football Playoff. Now, the expectations are only getting louder.

That’s because the Longhorns appear built to win right now.

Texas returns with a roster talented enough to contend nationally, and the offense added even more firepower through the portal with running back Hollywood Smothers and wide receiver Cam Coleman. There’s enough around Manning to make a playoff run not just realistic, but expected.

That’s what makes this season different.

Manning is no longer being judged on potential, recruiting stars or family pedigree. He’s being judged like a finished product.

And with a brutal schedule that includes games against Ohio State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, LSU and Texas A&M, every performance will be dissected.

Every mistake will be magnified. Every big throw will fuel the belief that he can become the next superstar quarterback in Austin.

Fair or not, that’s the burden that comes with being Arch Manning.

The talent is obvious. The name carries weight. The roster around him is strong enough to support a title push. But if Texas is going to meet its championship expectations in 2026, Manning has to be more than promising.

He has to be productive, poised and consistently great when the biggest moments arrive.

That’s why no quarterback in college football has more to prove this fall.
