Former Texas star Bijan Robinson lands a record-setting Falcons extension, proving his NFL value and giving the Longhorns another major recruiting win.
Bijan Robinson just gave the Texas Longhorns another massive NFL advertisement.
The former Texas running back agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons worth up to $75 million, including a reported position-record $51 million guaranteed.
At approximately $25 million per season, Robinson’s new deal doesn’t simply raise the running back market. It launches it through the roof.
For Texas, that payday carries serious weight.
Robinson arrived in Austin as one of the most celebrated recruits in the country, produced like a superstar and has now become one of the NFL’s most valuable offensive weapons.
When Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns sit down with elite recruits, they can point directly to Robinson as proof that Texas can prepare a player for Sundays and generational money.
Through his first 51 NFL games, Robinson has rushed for 3,910 yards and 25 touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
He’s also caught 198 passes for 1,738 yards and nine scores, giving him 5,648 total yards from scrimmage before signing his second professional contract.
Then came his monster 2025 season.
Robinson led the NFL with 2,298 scrimmage yards, earned his first All-Pro selection and finished fourth in Offensive Player of the Year voting.
He also forced 87 missed tackles as a runner and gained 1,172 rushing yards after contact, according to Pro Football Focus.
That’s not a running back living off his offensive line. That’s an offense living off its running back.
Atlanta clearly understands the difference.
The Falcons have now committed major money to Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts, building their future around three explosive skill players.
Robinson may be the most important of the bunch, especially with Michael Penix Jr. returning from a knee injury and Tua Tagovailoa competing for the starting quarterback job.
No matter who wins that battle, Atlanta knows where its offense begins.
Robinson’s deal could also become the target for Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs, who was selected four picks after Robinson in the 2023 NFL Draft.
But Robinson got there first, resetting the market and reminding everyone why Texas running backs still carry a certain swagger.
The Longhorns didn’t receive a dollar from Atlanta’s investment. They still came away looking like winners.
