As Arizona faces a bleak future, mock drafts project Texas star Arch Manning as the savior tasked with reviving one of the NFL’s most struggling franchises.
The easy questions as they relate to Texas Longhorns star QB Arch Manning and the 2027 NFL Draft?
Yes, he will soon join the six Longhorns who were drafted by NFL teams this year. (That makes for three years in a row, by the way, with at least that many Texas products getting moves to the pro pipeline.)
Indeed, some experts are predicting Texas could have nearly that many guys taken in just the first round alone.
And yes, the group will be led by Manning, who quite logically figures to be the No. 1 overall choice, as noted as ESPN released an early 2027 mock draft that sees four Longhorns taken in the top half of the first round, beginning with one of the biggest names in college football making his long-awaited, but unsurprising jump into the pros.
That would be Arch.
But that's where the easy questions stop ... and the challenges begin. The 2027 NFL Mock Draft projection sends Manning to the Arizona Cardinals.
What's that mean?
DRAFT RECAP: Which Longhorns Begin NFL Career?
That will mean the Cardinals will be horrible.
That will mean famed NFL legacy Manning will be asked to fix a program that has in general long been broken.
When was the last time Arizona had a top-notch QB? Kurt Warner, maybe? That was 15 years ago!
The Cardinals more recent QBs? Check out the names ...
Old Longhorns pal Colt McCoy, David Blough, Trace McSorley, Joshua Dobbs, Clayton Tune, Jacoby Brissett and Kyler Murray, who was just allowed to leave for Minnesota.
Writes ESPN's Jordan Reid: "Manning, at 6-foot-4, 219 pounds, is a sturdy dual-threat quarterback. He finished with 3,163 passing yards, 26 touchdown throws and seven interceptions in his first year as a starter while adding 10 rushing touchdowns."
Yeah, we know all of that. And we believe it'll translate to the NFL. But we also know that Arizona is where QBs' careers go to die ... a history that Arch Manning might just be asked to rewrite.
