Texas football spring practice is turning up the spotlight on Ryan Wingo, while offensive line progress and Dailyn Swain’s NBA draft move shape UT news.

Texas football is generating plenty of spring buzz, and one of the biggest storylines around the Longhorns is the growing belief that Ryan Wingo could be in line for a breakout 2026 season.

After catching 54 passes for 834 yards and seven touchdowns last year, Wingo already proved he can be one of the most dangerous playmakers in the Texas offense.

But heading into this season, he may be positioned to become even more productive.

That’s partly because Texas is loaded with offensive intrigue. Arch Manning continues to command attention, and transfer addition Cam Coleman has brought fresh excitement to the receiver room. In some ways, that may actually benefit Wingo.

With defenses forced to account for more than one major threat, the talented wideout could see more favorable matchups and more room to operate.

There’s also the reality that development matters. Wingo is no longer the young player trying to find his footing. He’s more experienced, more polished, and more familiar with Steve Sarkisian’s system.

For a player with his speed and big-play ability, that could lead to a massive jump.

Of course, no Texas football conversation is complete without discussing the offensive line. If the Longhorns want to compete for an SEC title and make a serious College Football Playoff push, the protection up front has to improve.

Encouragingly, Connor Robertson and Brandon Baker have emerged as two of the more dependable performers during spring practice.

That doesn’t guarantee Texas has fixed its issues in the trenches, but it’s a positive sign for an offense that needs more consistency.

On the basketball side, Dailyn Swain’s NBA draft declaration adds another layer of uncertainty to the offseason. He still has the option to return, but if he stays in the draft, Texas would lose one of its most versatile and valuable players from last season.
