The college football season has come to an end, which means that so has the transfer portal, and the Texas Longhorns are going all in for 2026.
According to 247 Sports, they have the third-best portal class in the nation, and one of the biggest reasons for that is their wide receiver position.
LonghornsWire put out a recent article grading each position for Texas in terms of the players they have landed in the transfer portal at that position. When it comes to wide receiver, the Longhorns earned an A+ for landing Cam Coleman.
"Texas only signed one wide out, but Coleman may be the best player in the entire transfer portal and one of the best overall WRs in the country," Luerssen writes. "This gives Manning an important target to go with Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley V."
Coleman has been at a different SEC school in Auburn for his first two years in college, and now he comes in to a Texas team who is looking to go all in and build around the talented Arch Manning.
In his first two college seasons, Coleman has racked up a total of just over 1,300 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He will become perhaps the main touchdown threat for the Longhorns when he suits up for his first game.
The reason for this is his 6-3, 200 pound frame, which is a very solid size for a wide receiver. He was one of the better wideouts in college football this past season because of this, and was one of the best players at winning 50-50 balls.
This will mean that Emmett Mosley V will most likely move to the slot receiver spot, which will be good for him. He has shown the ability to read defenses and find open space, which will play to the Longhorn's advantage.
Manning will most likely leave for the NFL Draft after the 2026 season, as he is one of the more highly touted prospects in college football. That means that Texas will do what it can to build the team necessary around him in order to contend fast.
And landing a receiving threat like Coleman in the transfer portal is a very good way to do just that.
