Texas stars Carson Tinney, Aiden Robbins and Dylan Volantis were named Dick Howser Trophy semifinalists after standout 2026 seasons.
Texas baseball keeps piling up national recognition, and now three Longhorns are in the mix for one of the sport’s biggest individual honors.
Carson Tinney, Aiden Robbins and Dylan Volantis were named semifinalists for the Dick Howser Trophy, awarded annually to the top player in college baseball.
It’s another sign of just how loaded Texas has been during a 2026 season that has kept the Longhorns among the nation’s top teams.
Tinney has been a huge addition in his first year in Austin. The former Notre Dame catcher has hit .311 in 51 games while driving in 51 runs. His power has changed the Texas lineup, too, with 29 extra-base hits and 20 home runs.
Robbins has made just as loud of an impact after arriving through the transfer portal.
The Pennsylvania native is batting .348 through 201 at-bats with 53 RBI and 19 homers. In his first SEC season, he’s quickly become one of the toughest outs in the Longhorns’ order.
Volantis gives Texas a true ace on the mound. The left-hander has worked a career-high 74.2 innings with a 2.05 ERA, 105 strikeouts and a .188 opponent batting average.
He was also named a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist, further strengthening his national profile.
All three Longhorns have built finalist-level cases, and each ranks near the top of key statistical categories. Tinney and Robbins bring the middle-of-the-order thunder, while Volantis has consistently shut down opposing lineups.
Texas’ bigger goal is still a national championship, and that won’t change. But individual honors like this reflect the kind of roster it takes to chase one.
Whether it’s Tinney’s power, Robbins’ production or Volantis’ dominance, the Longhorns have three legitimate Dick Howser Trophy contenders — and plenty of reasons to believe more postseason noise is coming.
