Portal Madness: Where Texas Stands on Its Top Targets cover image

Texas chases top transfer talent, from elite receiver Cam Coleman to vital offensive line help, aiming to bolster championship hopes.

With the Transfer Portal open, the road to the national championship officially begins for Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his Longhorns.

Texas is expected to be much more aggressive in this year's portal, and the rumors are already flying.

Here are the situations surrounding the Longhorns' top transfer targets.

Auburn WR Cam Coleman

The Cam Coleman sweepstakes are officially underway, and Texas gets the first shot at him.

The No. 1 player in the portal, according to On3, is visiting Austin on Saturday. After that, Coleman is expected to visit Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and Alabama.

The goal for Sarkisian and his staff is simple -- don't let Coleman leave campus without his signature. If they do, the Aggies and Red Raiders with their massive NIL budgets will be ready to pounce.

The Longhorns need a true wide receiver one, and Coleman would be precisely that. Acquire him, and their offense starts to look scary.

Louisville RB Isaac Brown

After five of its running backs departed the program, it's fair to say Texas is in dire need of another ball carrier.

Isaac Brown of Louisville is the top RB in the portal according to On3, and the Longhorns are the leaders in the clubhouse for his signature.

According to On3's Pete Nakos, Texas "is the top team to beat" for Brown. Along with that, 247 Sports has submitted a crystal ball prediction for the Longhorns to land the star RB.

Many fans were excited at the prospects of landing Florida RB Jadan Baugh in the portal, but Brown would be an incredible consolation prize.

Michigan OL Andrew Sprague

It's no secret that Texas is looking for offensive line reinforcements this offseason, and Andrew Sprague of Michigan would be a fabulous get.

The Longhorns, along with Missouri, have been the two teams rumored to lead the race. No visit to the 40 Acres has been set, but perhaps that's because Sprague just entered the portal on Friday.

The All-Big Ten selection would be a great addition at right tackle, helping to protect star quarterback Arch Manning.

Arkansas DL Ian Geffrard

It never hurts to beef up your defensive front, and the addition of Ian Geffrard would do just that.

The 6-foot-5, 389-pound unit up front that played 463 snaps for Arkansas this season would help strengthen Texas' already stout run defense.

Geffrard, the No. 4 defensive lineman in the portal, according to On3, is scheduled to visit Kentucky, SMU, Auburn and the Longhorns.
