Texas lands veteran linebacker Darius Snow from Michigan State, giving Steve Sarkisian another experienced defender for the 2026 title chase.

Texas football added another experienced piece to its 2026 roster this week, and Darius Snow could end up being one of the more useful under-the-radar pickups of the offseason.

The former Michigan State defender committed to the Longhorns on Thursday, giving Steve Sarkisian added linebacker depth as Texas continues building toward another College Football Playoff push.

For a team with national championship expectations, experienced depth matters. That’s where Snow comes in. The Texas transfer portal addition arrives in Austin with six years of college experience and a track record of production when he’s been healthy.

Over his time at Michigan State, Snow totaled 154 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and two pass breakups.

His biggest season came in 2021, when he looked like one of the Spartans’ most active defenders.

That year, Snow piled up 87 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss, showing the kind of range and physicality that made him an intriguing addition in the portal.

Injuries disrupted much of the next two seasons, though, and kept him from fully building on that breakout campaign.

That makes this move especially interesting for Texas. The Longhorns don’t need Snow to carry the defense, and that could work in their favor.

In a talented unit loaded with proven playmakers, he gives Texas a veteran option who can provide stability, competition, and insurance at a key spot.

Snow was once rated the No. 414 overall prospect in his high school class and the No. 31 safety by Rivals, and he later re-emerged as one of the portal’s more notable defensive names.

With one year of eligibility left, he now gets a fresh start on a roster built to contend.

Texas has been aggressive in putting final touches on the 2026 team, and Snow’s commitment is another sign Sarkisian wants as few weak spots as possible heading into the season.
