Texas football recruiting is making another big move in the 2027 cycle, and this time the spotlight is on four-star tight end Brock Williams.
The highly regarded Illinois prospect is set to be in Austin after competing at OT7 in Dallas, giving Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns a valuable chance to make their case in person.
Williams has become one of the more intriguing offensive targets in the 2027 class, and for good reason. The Libertyville standout is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 tight end in the country, the No. 5 overall player in Illinois, and the No. 94 prospect nationally.
Those rankings match the tape. He’s a productive pass-catcher, a matchup problem down the field, and the kind of target who could eventually fit neatly into a modern college offense.
His sophomore production backed that up in a big way. Williams put together 35 catches for 608 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2024 season, numbers that helped turn him into a national name.
He also earned a chance to showcase his talent at the Polynesian Bowl, another sign that his profile keeps rising. At a position where size, hands, and versatility are everything, Williams checks a lot of boxes.
Of course, Texas isn’t alone in its pursuit. The Longhorns are battling a heavyweight list that includes Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Auburn, Arkansas, Arizona State, and Nebraska.
That kind of offer sheet tells you exactly how respected Williams is nationwide. Landing him won’t be easy, but hosting him on campus gives Texas a real opening to strengthen its position.
The timing matters too. Texas already has a strong 2027 recruiting class taking shape, ranked No. 11 nationally by 247Sports, with four-star wide receiver Easton Royal and four-star EDGE Cameron Hall already in the fold.
Adding Brock Williams would give that group even more punch and offer another sign that Sarkisian is building a class with serious long-term offensive firepower. Until he sets a decision date, this recruitment remains one worth watching closely.
